In case you didn't know it... it turns out that McDonald's has made a super-sized plan to keep you in their restaurants ordering more burgers and fries by offering wi-fi hot spots in over 10,000 locations, making them the largest wi-fi network in the United States under one brand. See the story from their hot spot partner, WayPort, here.
Apparently there is an extremely large percentage of people that work out of their cars or on the road that use McDonald's as their workspace instead of Starbucks. If you think about it, it makes sense that people in a hurry would prefer this to the lazy Gen-Xers that hang out at Starbucks all day surfing the web. McDonald's must figure that by offering this service, it is a safe bet that these "road warriors" will keep coming back for a larger percentage of their meals if they can plug in and get work done at teh same time. If you were willing to pay for the service, you could use your Skype phone at McDonald's and make your calls too, saving on your wireless bill. by: WLANHQ

WLANHQ.com is dedicated to assisting consumers to set up the optimal wireless network for their home or home office with as few headache's as possible.
Our team has been using and setting up home networks for over 6 years and is well aware of the frustration people encounter over unwrapping the latest and greatest tech toy, only to find out it won't connect to their existing hardware because the manufacturer doesn't support it. Unfortunately, they don't tell you this at the "Big Box" store. Whether you are a total novice or a hard-core tech junkie, our goal is to equip you with the hardware and know how to set up your wireless network and keep you from banging your head against the wall. We carry products from the major players in the wireless network industry: Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, Belkin, TrendNet, Hawking Technology, etc. We also supply home entertainment specific devices for TiVo, SlingBox, and XBox 360. Part of our service is to offer simple to install kits for one-stop shopping. For example, you just bought a new desktop or laptop computer for the family to use, but you don't want to run a long ethernet cable across your kitchen. What do you do? Run down to "Big Box" and see if they can help you? Then you come home and find out they sold you the wrong thing..... AAAARGH! WLANHQ.com offers home networking kits with a wireless access point or router and network cards to suit your specific needs. Common sense says that you should use the same brand for both your router and wireless network card. Our kits make sure that you are buying compatible hardware that will definitely work together. With our testing and reviews of new gear, we take the guesswork out of figuring out what hardware you need, so you don't need to get your blood pressure up and waste gasoline running back and forth from "Big Box" where the glorified stocking clerks know less about wireless networking than you do. Stay tuned for new product reviews and commentary on events and happenings regarding the world of wireless networking. by: WLANHQ |
